Level I training announced for RL8200 systems

Radeus Labs has opened a new facet of its support for users of its satellite antenna control systems. Training is to be offered regularly to customers, industry partners, and select others on a space-available basis at its corporate headquarters in Southern California.

Radeus Labs Announces Addition of IESS-412 Capability for Flagship 8200 Antenna Control System

Additional Tracking Mode Offers a New Twist on Refresh of Data Sets

POWAY, CA – August 01, 2017 — Radeus Labs Inc., a market leader in the design and manufacture of high performance antenna control systems, announced today the addition of IESS-412 or more commonly, Intelsat 11-parameter pointing capability to the 8200 antenna control system (ACS).

The added pointing mode will allow greater flexibility for customers who use the Intelsat pointing mode and offers multiple methods for refreshing data sets, including an automatic update capability for web facing systems.

The 8200 currently auto updates the NORAD two-line element set data on a daily basis for targets using that pointing mode. Similarly, the Intelsat pointing mode will auto-refresh data sets when the 8200 ACU has web access. Alternatively, the data sets may be updated over the internal LAN when web access is not available. A third option for uploading data sets is to utilize the USB drive located on the the front panel of the ACU.

“We have tried to make it easy for customers to maintain current pointing data in their ACUs,” states Robert Gomez, a Satcom Engineer for Radeus. “By adding ease-of-use features to the 8200, we reduce the amount time required to maintain the unit and simplify the update process for our customers,” notes Gomez.

Radeus Labs announces the addition of extreme low temperature option for 8250 drive cabinet

Now: -55°C for Earth Station Antenna Motor Drive Cabinets

The Radeus Labs team has just completed testing on its improved Low Temperature Option for the Model 8250 Drive Cabinet. The previous rating went down to -40°C; the new improved version is now rated down to -55°C.

Multiple thermostats prevent drive cabinet electronics from powering up at unsafe temperatures. From a cold-start, the drive cabinet electronics power up after the heater has sufficiently warmed the interior.

The bottom-mounted heater/fan assembly provides quick and steady heating, expending energy only when required, and saving on electricity costs.

Low Temperature Packages are easily added after system installation, with pre-cut insulation, DIN rail-mount components, and a simple plug-in interface included for all systems.

Cabinets ordered with, or retrofitted with, the package gain the following specifications:

  • Low ambient operational temperature: -55°C (all temperatures are without wind chill)
  • Time from applied power to cabinet operation: 10 minutes (at cold start from -40°C) (Electronics will not power up until a safe internal operational temperature has been reached.)
  • Internal average temperatures
    • At -40°C ambient: 10°C
    • At -55°C ambient: 10°C

It is estimated that this package will allow much lower operational temperatures, but as of yet has only been tested down to -55°C.

Since all cabinets have a low temperature storage specification of -20°C, this package will keep the electronics safe, even when the unit is not in operation, as long as power is readily available.
